About Montessori

What is Montessori?

It is a unique teaching method that provides a healthy balance between  freedom of choice and structured activity. The prepared learning  environment provides a pleasant atmosphere, allowing for the child to  explore carefully designed materials.  At M.C.C., we help children  develop confidence and independence as learners.

Who is Montessori?

Dr. Maria Montessori, an Italian medical doctor, devoted her entire  life to the study and education of young children.  She prepared a  learning environment for children that proved highly beneficial to their  growth and aided them in achieving their fullest potential. She saw  education as "an aid to life"-not just the learning of academic  material.

At  M.C.C. we employ her ground-breaking work.

Why Montessori?

The goal of both Montessori and traditional preschools is the same: to  provide learning experiences for the child. The biggest differences lie  in the kind of learning experiences each school provides and the methods  they use to accomplish this goal.  We believe these differences are  important because they help shape how children learn, work habits and  future attitudes toward themselves and the world around them. The  Montessori Advantage is that by nurturing the intrinsic desire in every  child to explore his or her world, the child establishes early on a  strong foundation for a lifelong love of learning.
